Bayer Increases Biological Production in Tlaxcala

A few days ago, Bayer de México announced an ambitious expansion project at its Tlaxcala plant, with the objective of significantly strengthening its production capacity for biologicals used in integrated pest management in agriculture.

These biologicals, derived from microorganisms such as bacteria, play a crucial role in protecting crops, improving their health and increasing harvest yields.

The project, divided into three phases with a total investment of approximately 700 million pesos, will allow production volume to be doubled by improving equipment in key areas, such as fermenters, unloading stations, air compressors and cooling systems.

The Tlaxcala Plant is the only Bayer facility in the world that produces the biofungicides Sonata and Serenade, and this expansion will increase its production capacity from 7,000 to 15,000 tons, destined for more than 60 countries around the world.

This announcement is especially relevant given that the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that up to 40% of global agricultural production is lost due to pests and diseases, underscoring the importance of quality solutions and environmental management such as those offered by Bayer.

Manuel Bravo, president and CEO of Bayer in Mexico, highlighted that this investment in the expansion of the plant in Tlaxcala is a manifestation of the company's commitment to innovation and solutions that address basic health and nutrition needs around the world.

Furthermore, he emphasized the company's vision of promoting regenerative agriculture, which not only seeks to produce more efficient crops with less environmental impact, but also restore and benefit nature in the process.

This initiative ultimately seeks to create more sustainable agriculture that is beneficial for both farmers and society and the planet as a whole. The expansion project in Tlaxcala was presented in collaboration with the state government, with the objective of promoting sustainable agricultural practices among local producers to increase crop production in the state and reduce the environmental impact of their activities, thus supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and Bayer's global vision of "Health for All, Zero Hunger".
