Boehringer Ingelheim highlighted globally for its CO2 reduction goals

Boehringer Ingelheim has achieved validation of its CO2 emission reduction goals globally for 2030 through the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative.

This global body promotes climate action in the private sector, enabling organizations to establish science-backed emission reduction goals and promote transparency and corporate accountability.

The pharmaceutical company has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 58.9% (scope one and two) and 27.5% (scope three) by 2030 compared to 2019 levels.

In Spain, the Boehringer Ingelheim headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallès has been recertified as 'Carbon Neutrality' in scope one and two, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and emission reduction.

The company has implemented measures such as the use of electricity from 100% renewable sources, energy consumption reduction projects and sustainable mobility programs. Additionally, they have reduced paper consumption by 50%, eliminated single-use plastics and promoted water reduction and reuse. The headquarters has also obtained the 'LEED Gold' certification in energy efficiency and environmentalism.
