How to Overcome Fear and Turn It Into Success

A very recurrent feeling during the life of any person is fear. Fear is something that has helped people throughout time to have prudence and not perform acts that could put their integrity or material possessions at risk.

Fear is a defense mechanism that has helped humanity survive different dangerous scenarios, and has helped us, as a species, without as many natural defense mechanisms as other species, manage to surpass ourselves and find a way to face danger in a less risky way.

Currently, it is no longer as likely that a wild beast will appear that we have to defend ourselves from, and thanks to technology, some risks from natural disasters or accidents are reduced, however, our mind has begun to register another type of fears, which involve another level of survival: the fear of failure, the fear of losing all our assets, the fear of new experiences, the fear of not meeting our own expectations and those of others...

We have all felt fear at some point in our lives, perhaps when we were about to enter a new school for the first time, we felt the fear of not fitting in with our classmates or not feeling comfortable in a different environment.

It may also be that when starting a new activity, especially something that could define the rest of our lives, there is fear, when you start a new business or new professional activity.

Fear is not bad, however it can cause us problems if we don't know how to take advantage of it. There are many opportunities that have been lost because of fear, personal, romantic, professional, group opportunities, etc. Opportunities that will not come again and that may have turned out better if they had not been guided by fear.

The fear, the feeling of "I can't", the sensation of not being good enough for the things we want to achieve: "You're going to starve if you decide to be an entrepreneur", "Nobody is going to buy your products", "There are already many people doing what you want to do", "You're not good at this"... All these thoughts go around in our heads every time we want to move forward, and it's normal, but it depends on us being able to silence them and move forward despite what we're thinking.

If you let fear be your advisor, there will come a point where you will feel that you can no longer move forward, it will end your ideas, your goals, your desires, it will end up killing your creative voice, it will defeat your ideas and, in the end, you will only follow the paths that others have drawn, without creating your own lifestyle or your own rules to follow.

The worst thing you can do is let fear dominate you, if you make all your decisions based solely on the fear that the result provokes in you, then you will never reach anything new, you will never achieve progress and you will never create changes in your life and your environment, and the more you let fear guide you, the harder it will be to put it aside and encourage yourself to do something on your own.

Remember that fear is a defense mechanism, it warns us when there is something that could hurt us either physically or mentally, but it is not always right, for example, when we meet someone who attracts us physically, many times we let ourselves be guided by the fear of rejection and we don't dare to take the first step.

It may be that fear was right and that person will reject us, even before being able to make a romantic proposal, however, it may not be, it may also be that they feel attracted to us and that first step gives us the opportunity to meet someone really interesting and who could become important in our lives.

But we will never know the result that awaits us if we don't decide to face our fears and start acting despite them. It is not necessary to be a superhero who fears nothing, but we should consider that we must be capable of facing those fears that will often close the doors to growth and self-improvement.

If you don't know how you can fight against the fear that change produces in you and dare to make decisions and take actions that help you grow both personally and professionally, there is something you need to start applying in every aspect of your life: Gratitude.

Being grateful is one of the strongest weapons against fear, gratitude and fear are opposite feelings, so you cannot feel gratitude and fear at the same time, therefore, when you feel grateful, your mind will think positively and fear will become smaller and smaller, until your gratitude is so great that it is what causes you to act for the rest of your life.

Many times it is difficult for us to be positive, there are moments when we start to feel that there is no way something will go well for us and we feel that everything that happens to us is bad or irrelevant, we feel that everything overwhelms us and there is no way out of there. That's why it's important to start doing gratitude exercises to start forming a new perspective on life.

You have to start little by little, I propose that you start making at least one gratitude a day, whether small or large, a gratitude to someone close to you, to nature, to your surroundings, to God, to yourself, to whoever, it is important to always be grateful with life and with ourselves.

Little by little you will notice that the more grateful you become, the more things you have to be grateful for, and soon your gratitude will be much greater than your fears and being able to see all the good you have achieved in life will help you better resolve situations the next time you hear that little voice trying to stop your path.

Fear never goes away completely, but you can use it to your advantage, allowing it to warn you of possible dangers, but without letting it lead you, always trusting in your abilities and in the good decisions you have made in the past that have brought you to the point where you are now and from which you can continue growing continuously.

Trust in yourself, trust in your plans, in your surroundings and in what surrounds you, trust in your spiritual power and don't let fear prevent you from carrying out the plans you have ahead. Face your fears and make your future increasingly bright and successful.
