MSD: Agropecuaria "La Lucía" Elevates Pig Farming with IDAL Technology

Agropecuaria La Lucía S.A., a prominent farm in Buenos Aires province, positions itself as a pioneer in the implementation of innovative technologies in pig farming, seeking to improve business efficiency.

Production Manager, Nicolás Nocelli, highlights the positive impact of MSD Animal Health's intradermal and needle-free IDAL® vaccination in the farm's development.

The farm, with 3,200 breeding sows and located in the Alberti district, has adopted the 'wean to finish' system in its latest expansions, experiencing steady growth of 500 sows every two years.

The objective is to supply Calchaquí Processing Plant and establish itself as the Model Farm of Argentina, with plans to reach 6,000 sows through an Integration system, focusing on sustainable growth.

Despite challenges, such as the need for clear regulations, macroeconomic impacts, product shortages due to import restrictions, and drought, Nocelli is confident in the pig industry's ability to adapt and thrive.

The farm has relied on MSD Animal Health, highlighting the quality and innovation of its vaccines, strengthening the relationship over the years.

The implementation of IDAL® intradermal vaccination technology has been a notable advancement, according to Nocelli. Benefits include needle-free vaccination and intradermal application, significant waste reduction thanks to precise application of 0.2 ml of vaccine, work efficiency with better product traceability, and greater safety for both workers and animals.

Guillermo Racca, Technical Manager of MSD Animal Health's Swine Unit, highlights IDAL®'s revolutionary contribution to the pig industry by reducing antimicrobials and strengthening the link between human and animal health.

The synergy between technology and animal welfare is evident in the optimization of operational efficiency and excellence in the final outcome, supporting the optimistic vision of the pig industry in Argentina.

The success story highlights the importance of investing in animal health and adaptive technologies in response to the growing global demand for high-quality protein.
