At some point in their lives, one in seven women faces the possibility of developing breast cancer. The good news is that, if detected in early stages, this type of cancer can be curable in an astounding 96% of cases, thanks to more effective and less invasive treatments.
In Mexico, P&G has undertaken a noble mission to drive timely detection of breast cancer.
In partnership with the Breast Cancer Foundation (FUCAM A.C.) and other collaborators, P&G is helping more than a thousand women per month to access vital tests and diagnoses.
Breast cancer affects our mothers, sisters, wives and friends, and early detection can make a difference. Currently, Latin America sees more than 462,000 new cases of breast cancer each year, according to the World Health Organization.
Detecting the disease in its early stages not only allows for less aggressive treatments, but also reduces costs. That's why P&G is donating over one and a half million pesos to FUCAM to facilitate medical tests and essential studies for thousands of women in Mexico.
P&G's contributions include donations of medical studies for early detection. More than 200 mammograms will be performed at customer locations through a mobile unit, offering free tests to women over 40 years old. Additionally, more than 80 complementary studies have been donated, such as biopsies and hormone receptor analyses, to improve diagnostic accuracy.
P&G's Naturella brand also joins the cause. They have launched a completely pink package to promote early detection of breast cancer. This package includes a QR code that guides women through a self-examination process, thus increasing the chances of detecting the disease in time.
This collaboration between P&G and FUCAM A.C. has a track record of over 10 years, benefiting thousands of women and timely detecting breast cancer.
Its goal is simple but powerful: to save time so that patients receive a diagnosis as soon as possible. Through their commitment and continued support, P&G, FUCAM and their collaborators are helping vulnerable women have better opportunities and a better life, a crucial step toward a healthier future for all.
