Walmart shows solidarity with Guerrero after Hurricane "Otis"

A helping hand in times of crisis

The devastation caused by Hurricane "Otis" in Acapulco, Guerrero, has mobilized several organizations and companies in a collective effort to provide support to affected communities. Walmart, the well-known retail chain, has been no exception. The company, in collaboration with Fundación Walmart de México y Centroamérica, has announced a significant donation of 100 million pesos aimed at helping recovery efforts in the region. This contribution will be channeled through key organizations such as the Mexican Red Cross, Unidos Por Ellos, CENACED, World Central Kitchen, and the Association of Catering Services and Friends of Acapulco. In addition to the monetary donation, Walmart has committed to delivering 250 tons of in-kind donations, which include food, personal hygiene items, and cleaning products.

Initiatives for community well-being

But Walmart's support does not stop there. In a gesture of solidarity, the company has launched four community dining halls in Acapulco with the purpose of offering free meals to those in need. Additionally, a community health module has been established to provide primary medical care and supply basic medications, in collaboration with the Mexican Red Cross and other key partners in the health sector. Likewise, for those who wish to contribute but cannot do so in kind, Walmart has launched a donation campaign together with the Mexican Red Cross, in which for every peso donated by customers, the company will contribute an additional peso.
